
The Scientific Committee of BMT 2025 invites students to present their research findings from projects conducted during their studies. The best contributions will be awarded certificates and prizes. The top 10 papers (conference papers) accepted for oral presentations (in English, 2-4 pages) will be nominated for the competition during the conference.
The conference deadline also serves as the submission deadline for student competition papers.

Conditions of Participation
Only first authors are eligible to present at the BMT conference, provided they meet the following conditions:
The paper must present current research work completed no more than 12 months before the submission deadline.
The paper must not have been evaluated in another competition.
No more than four academic/university years must have passed since the start of the MSc degree.
BSc project-related papers are also eligible for the competition.
The author must be a member of one of the following societies:
Austrian Society for Biomedical Engineering (ÖGBMT)
German Society for Biomedical Engineering within VDE e. V. (DGBMT)
Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering (SSBE)
Shared first authorship is not allowed.
In the absence of required supporting documents, the participant will be disqualified.
Assessment Procedures
The student competition follows a two-stage evaluation process:
1. Assessment of submitted written papers
Innovation content
Problem-solving approach
Clarity and comprehensibility
Scientific content
Diligence and formal quality of the manuscript
2. Assessment at the conference
Scientific content of the presentation
Presentation quality
Adherence to timing
Demonstration of competence during discussion
Audience engagement
The top 10 papers will be evaluated by an expert jury from the “Training and Advanced Education” committee during the BMT conference sessions, and winners will be selected. Finalists will receive a participation certificate.
Registration
Authors wishing to participate in the student competition must submit their manuscript via the regular submission system and complete the standard conference registration process.
Prize-Giving Ceremony
The awards ceremony will take place during the closing event of the conference. Prizes will be personally awarded to first authors based on their ranking. The results will be published in the member magazines of the three affiliated societies and on their respective websites.
Prize winners are encouraged to publish an extended version of their contribution in Biomedical Engineering (WdG).
