The Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering (SSBE, SGBT, SSGB)  is an association of engineers, physicists, natural scientists, medical doctors, etc. who are active in biomedical engineering engineering in academia, research or industry. The Society promotes contacts between members and people interested in the field of biomedical engineering.

Meetings
The 2009 Annual Meeting of the SSBE was held in Bern on August 27th and 28th, 2009. The meeting brought together academic and corporate researchers throughout Switzerland from diverse fields of biomedical engineering.
The meeting followed our long-standing and successful format which combines invited lectures by industry and research leaders with presentations of new research results from our Society's younger members. The meeting provided an overview of the current state of Biomedical Engineering in Switzerland and offered an environment for a productive exchange between participants.
We would like to thank all participants again for contributing to a very successful meeting. Details are available at the conference website.
The SSBE held its 2008 Annual Meeting at the FHNW in Muttenz – for the first time at a University of Applied Sciences. The aim of the meeting was to bring together scientists involved in basic and applied biomedical engineering research and education, with professionals and industry representatives in the domain of medical technology. In total 80 members participated in the meeting in early September 2008. 55 contributions were accepted and presented as poster in our poster exhibition. Over two days 11 invited speakers from different disciplines presented in high quality their research to a broad audience.
